Westpoint Farm Vets, incorporating Minster Vet Group and Myerscough Farm Vets, have signed up to provide TB testing services to farmers nationwide. In the face of significant pay reductions and new registration or commissioning fees, a significant proportion of veterinary practices have not signed up to provide these services.
Regional Director Phil Elkins BVM&S MRCVS says that Westpoint are aware of how this disruption can affect vet-client relationships: “Tuberculosis testing can be an incredibly stressful procedure for farmers, vets and animals. It is often also a great opportunity to see the performance of all groups of stock. As such we believe it is important, where possible, for TB tests to be carried out by the regular vet to the farm. Where the regular practice is not engaging in the process going forwards, Westpoint would be willing to carry out testing on these farms whilst ensuring the regular vet gets appropriate feedback from the tests. This way we would hope to ensure the relationship with local vets can be maintained.”
