Mike Tims

Chief Executive Officer

Mike has extensive international experience building and leading technology, product and data enabled professional services businesses, most recently as MD EMEA and Asia for the Corporate Executive Board and President APAC, Middle East and Africa for SHL.

As CEO of Origin, he will lead further growth, organically and through targeted acquisitions. In parallel, he will ensure that the core components of the group (veterinary services, medicine distribution, laboratory, research and data services) develop the linkages that deliver even greater insight and value to Origin’s clients.


Susan Grobbelaar

 Chief Financial Officer

Susan Grobbelaar joined Origin in June 2016. Before joining Origin, she spent 2 years at Encore Tickets, where she was the Finance Director and left after a successful sale process (private equity to private equity owner).

Before joining Encore, she spent 5 years at Office Holdings Limited, a private equity owned shoe retailer. At Office she held the position of Finance Director. Office was a fast growing company and during Susan’s tenure she became responsible for Finance, IT, the Warehouses, the Customer Service Call Centre (which she outsourced) and Stock Integrity. Susan left Office after a successful sale process. Earlier in her career, she held various positions within Finance in the Telecommunications and Oil and Gas Industries.

Susan has a BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance Degree from Robert Gordon University and is a CIMA fellow.


Matt Dobbs


Managing Director Ruminant and Insight

As Managing Director of Ruminant and Insight, Matt’s primary focus is on developing and improving the group’s people, services and products through providing a range of support services including training, research and consultancy. Matt has been published in several publications in the veterinary field, and has spoken at numerous conferences in the UK, USA, Europe and Australia.


Paul Thompson


Managing Director Pig

Paul is Managing Director of Origin’s pig department which now represents the largest pig practice in the UK. Paul first joined Garth Veterinary Group in 1986, and subsequently became partner. As well as being an active pig vet, Paul has experience in both mixed practice and laboratory management. He has extensive experience of post-mortem work in pigs and has delivered many courses to farm clients in areas such as farrowing house management and manager training. Paul is actively involved in veterinary societies and was, for many years, Treasurer of the Pig Veterinary Society.
