UK’s leading mixed practice veterinary group strengthens its services to production species
Myerscough Farm Vets based in Lancashire and Poultry Health Services, with sites in Yorkshire and Cambridgeshire, joined the Westpoint Group, the UK’s leading mixed veterinary practice network, in private transactions during late December 2014. Earlier in the month, Norfolk Farm Vets, based near Kings Lynn, also joined the expanding Group’s wide veterinary offering.
Poultry Health Services (PHS) offers internationally acclaimed veterinary care for commercial poultry keepers, backed by a full range of diagnostic capabilities as required by modern poultry keepers, through their Huntingdon based salmonella accredited laboratory. Paul McMullin is Managing Director of Poultry Health Services and the only UK recognised RCVS Specialist in Poultry Medicine and Production working day-to-day with commercial clients throughout Britain. Paul is delighted to have joined the group, stating, “The highly active clinical governance and knowledge transfer structure within the Westpoint Group drives quality and science throughout the business. This will ensure my clients benefit from a progressive, cutting edge approach to the advancement of poultry medicine and service.” The association with Minster will provide a wide base of experience and knowledge that can be shared to the advantage of each business’ customers. Paul continues to lead the practice, and PHS will continue to operate as an autonomous practice, but will work closely with the poultry team from Minster Vets, through their national network of poultry sites.
The Group’s poultry lead Keith Warner was delighted by the news and assures clients, colleagues and suppliers that this deal means more than business as usual. “By learning from our new partners and expanding on their expertise, this business partnership will allow us to develop capabilities, providing an enhanced service for each of our customers” said Keith. “The access to greater resource and the wider expertise from the growing Westpoint group, including Biobest laboratories, will ensure that the UK’s poultry keepers will greatly benefit from this development.”
Westpoint are also delighted that such preeminent farm practices have joined the group, with Myerscough Farm Vets and Norfolk Farm Vets, strengthening their own ruminant focussed practice network. Both practices will continue to be led by their Senior Vets, including Chris Myerscough and Molly McKay, but will be supported by the Westpoint Farm Vets team, offering a wider range of services to their clients. “With these practices joining the group we can offer our science based, customer focussed veterinary service to a wider number of farms, whilst developing all the people in our vet, laboratory, research and support teams to fulfil their potential, all of which will benefit the animals under our care” said Matt Dobbs, Managing Director of Westpoint.
“I was very impressed with the conscientious and considered approach of all the practices in the group and am very pleased to be able to bring the research into practice approach to our clients that the group uphold” commented Chris Myerscough.
Westpoint is backed by private investment firm, August Equity, who have committed further funds for the expansion of the group. “These new practices significantly broaden the technical capability and geographical scope of the business” added August Partner David Lonsdale. “Through our investment we continue to offer a unique opportunity to practice owners, with some of the UK’s leading veterinary businesses joining our group to offer a broad suit of integrated veterinary services to UK animal keepers”
